The First Issue of Photoworks SF Magazine

San Francisco's premier photo lab, Photoworks SF, recently launched a new magazine, Photoworks, Guest, consisting exclusively of analog photography.

The magazine is a compilation of film photos taken by the community and curated by Photoworks staff. The first issue follows a theme of “Point of View" and includes over 100 photographers, including myself.

While flipping through the first issue of Photoworks, Guest and absorbing all the amazing work, I noticed a common theme of wonder/curiosity and exploring the known/unknown. What really stood out to me is how different everyone’s perspectives and processes are in exploring these concepts.

For me, the best method I've found for igniting curiosity and changing my perspective almost instantaneously is through macro photography. Shooting macro has led me to realize how valuable curiosity and observation can be in relation to creativity. It’s led me to uncover significant keys within myself, and has transformed my approach to photography-- as well as my creative process in general.

While viewing the other photographers' work, whether it was street, lifestyle, or landscape photography, I could feel their passion, awe, and honesty-- the same ingredients in my macro photography.

I am honored to be included in the first issue of this diverse collection, and look forward to seeing what unfolds next.
