It’s been an exciting year of getting my film photography out into the world. Here’s the recap!
I started the year off with a spring-time maker’s market event along the beautiful coastal bluffs of Santa Cruz. The event had hundreds of people come through, and we offered attendees a unique sensory experience that was a photography x coffee collaboration.
During the summer, three of my macro photos were on display at the Santa Cruz County Government Building as part of the San Lorenzo Valley Museum’s All That Glitters exhibition, which was a multimedia collection of works that celebrate nature in all its forms.
I participated in the Santa Cruz County First Friday tour with an opening event at Fruition Brewing, a local hub for music, craft beer and community, where I showcased a collection of my work during the month of September.
In November, three galleries from across the country accepted my photos as part of their end-of-year exhibitions, including Gallery 612 in Santa Monica, California; Decode Gallery in Tucson, Arizona; and Praxis Photo Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The styles of my photos that were selected for these exhibitions ranged from double exposure to macro and landscape.
To end the year, I am going to conduct my first photo class with the goal of teaching others not just how to create beautiful and interesting photographs, but also how to find their unique styles by noticing what draws them in.
I am immensely grateful for the privilege and opportunity to explore my passion for photography and for the individuals and organizations providing me with endless support and encouragement on my creative journey.
